| The Teamsters National Freight
Industry Negotiating Committee on February 28th, 2006 addressed all
local unions to the fact of Article
33 of the National Master Freight Agreement with a notice that a
cost of living increase would be due freight members. |
| The letter stated, based on the
consumer price index (CPI-W) figures released February 22nd, 2006, by
the Bureau of Labor Statistics, (USDOL), it is apparent that the
Teamster membership covered by the 2003-2008 National Master Freight
Agreement will be due a cost of living allowance per Article
33 when the next scheduled hourly and mileage increase takes place
on April 1st, 2006. |
| The letter further stated the COLA
increase would be: |
|
$0.10 per hour |
|
.250 cents per mile ( or a
1/4 of a penny ) |
|
| These increases are in addition to the
negotiated increases per the 2003 NMFA settlement which are effective
April 1st, 2006. |
The bottom line is hourly wages are
scheduled to increase by 55 cents per hour and 1.375 cents per mile on
April 1st, 2006. The letter was signed by Tyson
Johnson.
